Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia Leads NPP Presidential Race in 2028, Poll Shows
A recent poll conducted by Global Info Analytics has revealed that former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the frontrunner in the race to lead the opposition NPP into the 2028 general elections. The poll, released on August 21, 2025, shows Dr. Bawumia commanding a significant lead with 52% support among NPP delegates ahead of the party’s presidential primaries.
His closest rival, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, lags behind with 17% support. Other aspirants such as Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Kwabena Agyapong, Boakye Agyarko, and Addai Nimo recorded lower percentages in the poll.
The survey also revealed that 10% of delegates remain undecided, while 9% declined to disclose their preference. This indicates the potential for shifts in support as the primaries draw closer.
Global Info Analytics conducted the survey among 2,656 NPP delegates, with 2,560 completing all responses, across 263 constituencies between August 12 and 20. The poll, which has a confidence level of 99% and a margin of error of ±2.44%, highlights Dr. Bawumia’s strong position in the race.
Despite his lead, analysts suggest that consolidating support among undecided delegates will be crucial for Dr. Bawumia to secure victory in the upcoming contest.
