Son Heung-min Contemplates Future at Tottenham Hotspur

Amid speculation surrounding his future at Tottenham Hotspur, Son Heung-min has left fans in suspense by not ruling out a potential move, with rumors linking him to a transfer to Saudi Arabia.

The 32-year-old striker, who currently serves as the captain of Spurs, has just one year remaining on his existing contract. Following South Korea’s impressive 4-0 victory over Kuwait in World Cup qualifying, Son chose to keep his plans ambiguous.

“Rather than making any definitive statements at this moment, I believe it’s best for everyone to wait and see,” Son told the press. “Wherever I end up playing, I will always give my all. That’s a commitment that will never waver.”

Son recently lifted his first trophy with Tottenham after the team secured a 1-0 victory against Manchester United in Bilbao to clinch the Europa League title, ending a 17-year drought for silverware. However, the joy of the triumph was short-lived as Tottenham parted ways with manager Ange Postecoglou following a disappointing league season that almost saw them relegated.

Despite facing criticism for inconsistent performances throughout the season, Son remains optimistic and is determined to bounce back stronger in the upcoming season, regardless of where he plays.

“Some may argue that I didn’t perform up to par this season, but personally, this year was significant for me because football is ultimately about winning. Champions are the ones that are remembered,” stated the former Bayer Leverkusen player, who joined Spurs in 2015.

“While I may not have been at my peak for most of the campaign, I am hopeful of regaining top form for the next season,” Son added.

Following his cameo appearance as a substitute in South Korea’s emphatic victory over Kuwait, Son reflected on their recent accomplishments. This win came on the heels of a 2-0 triumph against Iraq, securing their qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

South Korea emerged as the top team in Group B during the third round of Asian qualifiers, remaining unbeaten throughout 10 matches.

“Many assume that it’s smooth sailing for us in Asia, but that couldn’t be further from the truth,” Son remarked. “Our success stemmed from the unity and unwavering determination within the squad to remain undefeated in every match.”
