Terrahaptix, a Nigerian autonomous systems startup, has recently secured a significant $1.2 million security contract, beating out a competing Israeli company for the deal. The contract, awarded by private security firm Nethawk Solutions, spans over a five-year period and will involve the deployment of AI-powered drones and sentry towers at two hydroelectric power plants in Nigeria.
In addition to the hardware purchase, the contract also includes a recurring six-figure annual software subscription fee, ensuring a stable revenue stream for Terrahaptix. This marks the largest contract to date for the Nigerian firm, with CEO Nathan Nwachukwu expressing excitement over the opportunity to enter the hydroelectric sector.
Terrahaptix’s scope of work includes supplying approximately 10 drones and multiple solar-powered Sentry Towers, all integrated with Artemis OS. This operating system utilizes AI technology to detect and classify potential threats, providing advanced security measures for the power plants. Specifically, the company will be targeting bandits who have been using the plants as a hideout, with the Artemis OS capable of identifying the presence of threats and assessing their level of weaponry.
The success of Terrahaptix in securing this contract can be attributed to its integrated end-to-end solution approach. By offering a comprehensive suite of aerial, ground, and maritime systems all powered by a single operating system developed in-house, the company ensures a seamless and efficient security experience for its clients. This ecosystem approach mirrors the user retention strategies employed by global tech giants like Apple, fostering strong client relationships and satisfaction.
Founded by Nwachukwu and Maxwell Maduka, Terrahaptix has rapidly expanded its presence across Africa, operating a sizable factory in Abuja’s Idu Industrial District. The company boasts a diverse client base spanning countries such as South Africa, Ghana, Kenya, Côte d’Ivoire, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, with a significant portion of its sales originating from international markets.
Overall, Terrahaptix’s innovative technology and commitment to providing comprehensive security solutions have solidified its position as a leading player in the autonomous systems industry. With a track record of successful projects and a growing reputation for excellence, the company is poised for further growth and success in the future.
