Manchester United’s nightmare season took another humiliating turn on their post-season tour, as they suffered a shock 1–0 defeat to the ASEAN All Stars in Malaysia.

After a disastrous campaign that saw them finish 15th in the Premier League, lose in the Europa League final, and fail to secure any silverware, this friendly match was meant to be a chance for redemption. However, it turned into a new low for the struggling team.

Despite fielding a strong lineup including players like André Onana, Harry Maguire, Diogo Dalot, Casemiro, and Rasmus Højlund, Manchester United failed to find their rhythm and were unable to break down the resilient ASEAN XI. In the second half, Maung Maung Lwin from Myanmar, who plays for Lamphun Warrior in Thailand, scored the winning goal, stunning the fans at the Bukit Jalil Stadium.

The ASEAN All Stars team also featured talented players like Ezequiel Aguero from Sri Pahang, Sandro Reyes from FC Gutersloh in Germany, and João Pedro from Angkor Tiger and Timor-Leste. This unexpected loss to a team of relatively unknown players serves as a harsh reminder of the current state of Manchester United.

With the club facing a crisis and manager Ruben Amorim under increasing pressure, the defeat in Malaysia has only added to the embarrassment and raised serious questions about the team’s future direction. It is clear that major changes are needed for Manchester United to regain their former glory and compete at the highest level once again.
