The eagerly awaited One UI 8 update has finally started rolling out to select Samsung Galaxy smartphones in beta form. Users in South Korea and the US are among the first to experience the new software on their Samsung Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra devices.

According to reports from users Tarun Vats and Nathanial Bowling, the One UI 8 Beta Program is now live for Samsung Galaxy S25 users in South Korea, with the update also available for eligible S25+ and S25 Ultra users who are part of the beta program. Screenshots shared by these users show the new software downloading and installing on their devices.

This early version of One UI 8 is based on Google’s upcoming Android 16 OS and comes with a sizeable 3.38GB of storage space requirement. Additionally, the update includes the May 1, 2025 security patch to ensure user data and privacy are protected.

What to expect from One UI 8

Early hands-on impressions of One UI 8 reveal that the update doesn’t bring major changes to Samsung’s interface. Users can look forward to enhanced animations, the ability to customize regional preferences independently from language settings, adaptive wallpapers, and Google’s Live Updates through the Now Bar.

While an official release date for One UI 8 is yet to be confirmed, Samsung has hinted at a sooner-than-expected launch. With Google advancing the release of Android 16 to June, Samsung VP Minseok Kang announced that “This summer, the all new Android 16 will be coming to Samsung devices.” This signals a quicker turnaround for Samsung following delays and issues with the previous One UI 7 update.
