Donald Trump Lashes Out at Wall Street Journal Journalist on Air Force One
On board Air Force One on Sunday, President Donald Trump had a heated exchange with a journalist from The Wall Street Journal. The journalist had asked about talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, specifically regarding Trump’s efforts to broker peace between Russia and Ukraine in light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Trump’s reaction was swift and harsh. He criticized the Journal, saying, “Boy, you people treat us so badly. Wall Street Journal has truly gone to hell. Go ahead, yeah. Rotten newspaper. You hear me? What I said? It’s a rotten newspaper.”
Despite his outburst, Trump eventually allowed the journalist to ask the question but refused to answer it. He stated, “I wouldn’t tell The Wall Street Journal because it’d be wasting my time. There are talks, but I don’t want to talk to The Wall Street Journal. Look, Wall Street Journal is China-oriented, and they’re really bad for this country.”
Turning to another journalist, Trump moved on from the confrontation. This incident is just the latest in a series of clashes between Trump and the Rupert Murdoch-owned publication. The Wall Street Journal has criticized Trump on multiple occasions, particularly regarding his trade policies and tariffs, which they labeled as “The Dumbest Trade War In History.”
