The tragic incident involving the fatal shooting of Akwasi Lala, also known as Kushivi, by military personnel at Nyinahin in the Ashanti Region has left his wife devastated. In a heart-wrenching account of the events, she shared how she received the devastating news of her husband’s death.

According to her, she was informed that soldiers were beating her husband because of the shirt he was wearing. Moments later, she received the shocking news that he had been shot because he refused to take off his trousers, as he wasn’t wearing anything underneath. The senseless violence has left her and their six children in a state of despair and uncertainty.

Desperate for help and support, she revealed that she cooked a single egg and performed a brief rite to inform her children about their father’s death. With her husband being the sole provider for their family, she pleaded for assistance from the President and others, as she struggles to cope with the loss and care for their children.

The background of the tragic incident reveals that the shooting took place during a confrontation between military personnel and local youth at Nyinahin. The altercation occurred as a group of youths were on their way to a cemetery to bury a friend when a military truck carrying personnel stopped them upon noticing one of the mourners dressed in military camouflage.

Eyewitnesses reported that the military personnel tried to forcibly remove the uniform from the mourner, leading to a confrontation that escalated into violence. Tragically, Akwasi Lala, also known as Kushivi, was shot in the head and succumbed to his injuries. Three other mourners were also injured in the incident.

The harrowing tale of Akwasi Lala’s death serves as a stark reminder of the need for accountability and justice in ensuring the safety and security of all individuals. His wife’s plea for assistance highlights the urgent need for support for families affected by such tragedies, as they struggle to cope with the profound loss and trauma inflicted by this senseless act of violence.
