Jose Riveiro expresses gratitude towards Phuti Mohafe for praise

Outgoing Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has received praise from Polokwane City coach Phuti Mohafe for his positive contribution to South African football. Riveiro, who will be leaving Pirates at the end of the season, has been credited by Mohafe for his success in winning multiple cups during his tenure at the club.

Speaking after Polokwane City’s 1-0 loss to Pirates in a Betway Premiership match, Mohafe commended Riveiro for his achievements, stating that winning trophies consistently is no easy feat. Riveiro, in response to Mohafe’s kind words, expressed his gratitude for the recognition from a fellow coach.

“Thank you Phuti, thank you coach. When you get recognition from our colleagues, I think it’s the best one you can get. I just came here to do my best to help my club and team improve. It’s for the people to evaluate our daily efforts for the club and South African football,” Riveiro said.

Riveiro’s Pirates continue pursuit of more trophies

Since joining Orlando Pirates in 2022, Jose Riveiro has made a significant impact, winning five trophies and finishing as runners-up in the league twice. The Spaniard has led Pirates to the semifinals of the Nedbank Cup and the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League.

Despite trailing Mamelodi Sundowns by 12 points in the Betway Premiership, Pirates still have a chance to clinch the title with three games in hand. Riveiro’s focus remains on guiding his team to further success and continuing to make a positive contribution to South African football.
