Samsung Mourns the Loss of TV Visionary Han Jong-hee at 63

Samsung Electronics co-CEO Han Jong-hee, known for his significant contributions to the global television market, tragically passed away from a heart attack on Tuesday at the age of 63, the company announced.

“He died from cardiac arrest today,” a Samsung spokesperson confirmed, noting that Han is survived by his wife and three children.

Described as a key figure in the introduction of Samsung’s top-tier LED TVs, Han joined Samsung in 1988 and played a pivotal role in raising the profile of its premium TV models on a global scale.

Samsung Electronics, the flagship subsidiary of the vast Samsung group, mourns the loss of a visionary who helped shape the company’s success in the competitive television industry.

Although not a member of the Samsung family, Han’s influence on the company’s TV division was undeniable. His untimely passing leaves a void in Samsung’s leadership team and strategic direction.

Industry experts predict that Samsung’s position in the global television market may be impacted by the loss of Han, especially at a time when the company is focusing on integrating AI technology into its TV offerings.

Alongside competitors like LG and TCL, Samsung has been at the forefront of incorporating AI capabilities into its smart TVs, enhancing user experience and connectivity within smart homes.

Han’s passing comes at a critical juncture for Samsung, as the tech giant grapples with challenges in chip production for AI applications, a key component of its future growth strategy.
