Egypt: President El-Sisi Meets Eritrea’s Minister of Foreign Affairs

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt recently met with Eritrea’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Osman Saleh, along with other officials including Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Dr. Badr Abdel-Atty and Director of the General Intelligence Hassan Rashad. During the meeting, Minister Saleh conveyed greetings from Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki, which was warmly received by President El-Sisi.

The discussions focused on the strong relations between Egypt and Eritrea, with a mutual commitment to further enhancing cooperation across various sectors. The leaders also addressed the current situation in the Horn of Africa and explored ways to promote stability in the region. Both countries expressed their support for Somalia in its efforts to combat terrorism and maintain unity and territorial integrity.

Additionally, the meeting touched upon the importance of restoring peace and stability in Sudan, as well as safeguarding the Red Sea and enhancing governance and security efforts among riparian states. It was emphasized that non-riparian countries should not interfere in the governance of the Red Sea.

The dialogue between Egypt and Eritrea underscores a shared commitment to regional stability and cooperation. Both nations are actively engaged in promoting peace and security in the Horn of Africa, while also working towards enhancing maritime security in the Red Sea.

This meeting highlights the significance of diplomatic relations in addressing regional challenges and fostering cooperation among neighboring countries. The ongoing dialogue between Egypt and Eritrea serves as a model for constructive engagement and partnership in promoting peace and stability in the region.
