The United States has recently commended Intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard for her insightful understanding of the Indo-Pacific region. This praise comes after her recent visit to India, where she had a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During her visit, Gabbard spoke exclusively to NDTV World about various regional issues, including the situation in Bangladesh. She expressed concern about the increasing persecution of minorities in Bangladesh and highlighted the dangers of extremist ideologies leading to violence. However, Bangladesh dismissed her statements as misleading, emphasizing the country’s inclusive and peaceful Islamic traditions.

In an interview with NDTV World, Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence, emphasized the US government’s concern for the persecution and abuse of religious minorities in the region. She raised awareness about the threat posed by Islamist terrorists and their goal of establishing an Islamic Caliphate, which affects people of all religions through violent means.

The US Intelligence Department released a statement praising Gabbard’s nuanced understanding of the Indo-Pacific region, citing her upbringing in the area as a valuable asset. They also highlighted her efforts to advance President Trump’s America First policies in the region.

During her visit to India, Gabbard held key meetings with members of the Five Eyes security alliance and top Indian officials, including Prime Minister Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. The discussions focused on intelligence-sharing, defense cooperation, counter-terrorism, and transnational threats, reaffirming the strong US-India relationship.

The US State Department supported Gabbard’s stance on protecting minority communities in Bangladesh while also acknowledging the country’s recent efforts to ensure safety and security for all its citizens. Spokesperson Tammy Bruce reiterated the US government’s condemnation of violence and intolerance towards minorities and praised Bangladesh’s initiatives in this regard.

Tulsi Gabbard’s visit to multiple nations, including Hawaii, Japan, Thailand, India, and France, marked her first international tour as the Director of National Intelligence. Her engagements in India and interactions with key leaders underscored the importance of collaboration in addressing regional challenges and promoting peace through strength.

Overall, Gabbard’s visit and statements reflect the ongoing dialogue between the US and its allies in the Indo-Pacific region, emphasizing the shared commitment to security, cooperation, and the protection of minority rights.
