Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew is optimistic about Ghana’s prospects in the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Despite missing a training session, Ayew joined the team on Tuesday and was appointed captain by coach Otto Addo. With over a decade of experience and 109 appearances for the national team, Ayew’s leadership is crucial for the Black Stars.

While Ayew was not initially part of the leadership group, he has embraced his new role as captain. Addressing the team after training, Ayew expressed confidence in securing a positive result against Chad. He assured Ghanaians that the team is determined to turn things around and deliver a strong performance.

Chad currently sits at the bottom of Group I with no points, while Ghana is tied for the lead with Comoros on nine points. The Black Stars will face Chad on Friday after concluding their training sessions on Thursday.

In a statement in Parliament, Patrick Yaw Boamah, the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central Constituency, urged the Black Stars to “deliver all six points” in the qualifiers. Boamah emphasized the need for the team to show a positive result to justify the investments made in the national team and restore hope to Ghanaian fans.

To secure automatic qualification for the 2026 World Cup, Ghana must win both upcoming games. The pressure is on the Black Stars to deliver and prove their commitment to success on the international stage. With Ayew leading the way, the team is poised to rise to the challenge and showcase their talent on the world stage.
