Thousands of Metro Denver Customers Without Power Due to High Winds

As high winds, rain, and snow swept across the Front Range on Tuesday night, more than 8,000 metro Denver customers were left without power. Wind gusts between 40 and 50 mph were reported across the metro area as of 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Xcel Energy was quick to respond to the situation, with 33 outages impacting nearly 5,000 people in areas such as Arvada, Lakewood, Aurora, Westminster, and Thornton. The company’s outage map showed the extent of the outages and efforts to restore power to affected customers.

In addition to Xcel Energy, CORE Electric Cooperative also reported outages affecting thousands of people in various counties. Douglas County experienced outages impacting 1,811 people, while Elbert County and Arapahoe and Adams counties each had around 400 people without power.

The situation is still developing, and updates may be provided as more information becomes available. Residents are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions during this time of power outages.
