The Lions are gearing up for a crucial clash against the Sharks in the United Rugby Championship (URC) as they look to secure a spot in the playoffs. Currently sitting in ninth place on the table, the Lions have a game in hand on their competitors, but will need to focus on their performance rather than the points they need to secure a win.

With 28 points to their name, the Lions are level with Scarlets, Ospreys, the Stormers, and Benetton, leading the latter due to having played one more game. They trail Connacht by one point in eighth place and are five points behind Munster in fifth place. Every point will be crucial for the Lions as they aim to climb up the standings.

In their previous encounter, the Lions secured a bonus-point victory over the Sharks at Ellis Park, but they are expecting a tough challenge in the upcoming rematch. Assistant coach Ricardo Loubscher emphasized the team’s focus on their processes and improvement, rather than getting distracted by the need for bonus points or the table standings.

Despite their inconsistency this season, the Lions are determined to build on their recent strong performance and address any shortcomings in their game management and decision-making. Facing the same team twice in a row poses a unique challenge, but the Lions are prepared to adapt and execute their plans effectively.

As they head to Kings Park in Durban for the showdown with the Sharks, the Lions are bracing themselves for a physical battle and are focused on rectifying their mistakes from their previous encounter. With a mindset geared towards improvement and a commitment to their game plan, the Lions are ready to put their best foot forward and secure a vital result in their quest for a playoff spot in the URC.
