Actress Martha Ankomah has refuted claims that she has settled a GHS 300,000 agreement with Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah (LilWin) in their ongoing GH₵5 million defamation lawsuit. Initial reports suggested that a settlement had been reached on Tuesday, 25th February, following a breakdown in previous negotiations, which was announced in open court. However, according to StarrFM.com.gh, both parties are required to file the agreed terms and appear before the court on 1st April 2025 for Justice Forson Baah Agyepong to adopt it as a consent judgment.
In response to the reports, Martha Ankomah clarified in an interview with Adom FM that no such settlement had been agreed upon. She stated, “It is not true that we have reached this settlement. It’s sad—I don’t know who is writing those stories. The truth is that when we went to court, the judge directed us to return with the apology. So on 1st April, we will go back to court and review the apology to ensure that it is acceptable.”
Martha Ankomah further emphasized that her main concern is for LilWin to apologize and retract his statements. She mentioned, “I have previously indicated that if he apologises and retracts his statements, I would not take anything from him, maybe just our legal costs. But I don’t want anything from him—not a dime.”
She continued by stating, “I just want him to do the right thing so that people understand that you cannot say anything and get away with it in this country. This is simply to serve as a lesson. I am not perfect—everyone makes mistakes and should be forgiven—but I want him to realize that the law works in this country.”
Both parties have agreed to reconvene in court on 1st April 2025 for the terms to be officially adopted as a consent judgment. The court has not yet made a decision on the settlement, and they are awaiting LilWin’s apology for further action. The previous apology was deemed inadequate as it did not include a retraction of the insults and lies made by LilWin.
In conclusion, Martha Ankomah is focused on seeking justice and ensuring that the truth prevails in this defamation lawsuit. The court’s decision on the matter will be communicated to the public once the apology is received and reviewed. Stay tuned for updates on this ongoing legal battle.
