Comedian Celeste Ntuli is up for some major awards at the upcoming Savanna Comics’ Choice Comedy Awards. While she is nominated in several categories, she expressed that winning the Best Comedy Festival or Show Award would mean the most to her.

Last year, Ntuli’s comedy special, inspired by the 1980s music group Brenda & The Big Dudes, called “Celeste N Da Big Dudes,” had a successful run in various major cities in South Africa. The show featured different top comedians in each city she performed in, adding a unique twist to the traditional comedy show format.

Ntuli’s show is nominated in the Best Comedy Festival or Show Award category alongside other notable comedy specials like Mpho Popps Birthday Comedy Special, Laugh Africa Comedy Festival, Bioscope Sundays, and That’s Not Funny: Moveable Feast Comedy Night. The public can vote for their favorite to win the award.

In addition to the Best Comedy Festival or Show Award, Ntuli is also nominated for the Headliner of the Year Award and the Comedian of the Year Award. She expressed her gratitude for the nominations and mentioned that being recognized by the Comics Choice Awards is always an honor.

The upcoming awards ceremony, which will be the 12th edition, is set to take place at The Lyric Theatre on Saturday, April 12. Ntuli is hopeful for a win in the Best Comedy Festival or Show category, as it would be a testament to the hard work and creativity she put into her show.

In a heartwarming moment, Ntuli received a blessing to use the title “Celeste N Da Big Dudes” from Brenda Fassie’s son, Bongani Fassie. This approval from the iconic pop band’s family member added a special touch to Ntuli’s show, and she believes it was a nod of approval from Brenda Fassie herself.

Recently, Ntuli was in London as part of Nigerian comedian Basketmouth’s “Yes I Said It Tour” in England. Basketmouth praised Ntuli as the best female comedian in Africa, adding to her growing reputation in the comedy scene. Ntuli expressed her gratitude for the recognition and the opportunity to perform for diverse audiences abroad.

Overall, Ntuli’s journey in the comedy world continues to gain momentum, with accolades and praise from fellow comedians and audiences alike. Her unique blend of humor and creativity has solidified her position as one of the top comedians in Africa, and she looks forward to continuing to entertain audiences around the world with her special brand of comedy. The impact of social media on mental health has been a topic of much debate in recent years. While social media platforms have undoubtedly revolutionized the way we communicate and connect with others, there are growing concerns about the negative effects they may have on our mental well-being.

One of the main ways in which social media can impact mental health is through comparison. With the rise of curated online personas and the prevalence of filters and editing tools, it is easy for users to compare themselves to others and feel inadequate. This can lead to feelings of low self-esteem, anxiety, and depression as individuals strive to measure up to the seemingly perfect lives of others on social media.

Another issue is the potential for cyberbullying on social media platforms. With the anonymity that the internet provides, individuals may feel emboldened to engage in hurtful behavior towards others. This can have serious consequences for the mental health of those who are targeted, leading to feelings of isolation, shame, and worthlessness.

Additionally, the constant connectivity that social media promotes can be overwhelming and contribute to feelings of stress and anxiety. The pressure to constantly check notifications, respond to messages, and keep up with the latest trends can be exhausting and detrimental to one’s mental well-being.

However, it is important to note that social media is not inherently bad for mental health. In fact, it can be a valuable tool for connecting with others, sharing experiences, and finding support. It is all about how we use it and how we set boundaries for ourselves.

To mitigate the negative effects of social media on mental health, it is important to practice self-care and set limits on our social media use. This may involve taking breaks from social media, unfollowing accounts that make us feel bad about ourselves, and engaging in activities that promote mental well-being, such as exercise, meditation, and spending time with loved ones.

In conclusion, while social media can have a negative impact on mental health, it is not all doom and gloom. By being mindful of how we use social media and taking steps to protect our mental well-being, we can enjoy the benefits of connectivity and community that social media offers without sacrificing our mental health.
