Apple enthusiasts around the world were eagerly anticipating the release of the latest smartphone from the tech giant. When Apple CEO Tim Cook unveiled the iPhone 16e, it didn’t create the expected excitement and buzz that fans were hoping for.

Unlike the previous iPhone SE, the iPhone 16e is not simply a follow-up but rather a replacement for its predecessor. The launch of the iPhone 16e was overshadowed by the global launch of Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate Design triple-fold device, which garnered much more attention and hype.

What’s New?

The iPhone 16e features a modern design with an aluminium frame, glass front and back, and a 6.1-inch OLED screen. It has done away with the classic Touch ID home button and thick bezels, offering a more streamlined and contemporary look.

Equipped with the A18 chip, Apple Intelligence, a 48MP Fusion camera with a 2x telephoto lens, and satellite connectivity for emergency services, the iPhone 16e boasts impressive features. It also includes iOS 18 with enhanced customisation and privacy options, longer battery life, IP68 water resistance, USB-C support, Face ID, and a customisable action button.

Features

The iPhone 16e is priced at $599 for the 128GB model, which is $170 more than its predecessor, the iPhone SE. It comes in two matte finishes – black and white – and pre-orders will begin on February 21st, with availability starting on February 28th.

While the iPhone 16e may not have generated the same level of excitement as some of its competitors, it offers a solid combination of design, features, and performance that will appeal to Apple fans looking for a more affordable option within the iPhone lineup.

South African pricing and availability for the iPhone 16e have yet to be announced, but fans can expect it to hit the market soon.
