Stellenbosch FC will be facing Polokwane City tonight in a crucial Nedbank Cup round of 16 clash at Danie Craven Stadium. However, they will be without Kyle Jurgens and Sihle Nduli, who are both suspended for the match.

Coach Steve Barker emphasized the importance of Stellies being at their best in order to overcome the in-form Polokwane City team. Reflecting on their previous victory over Kruger United, Barker acknowledged the challenge of facing a team from a lower division but expressed confidence in his team’s abilities.

Polokwane City, led by talisman Oswin Apollis, have been performing well this season with a solid defense and skilled wingers. Barker highlighted the danger posed by Apollis and the team’s ability to capitalize on opportunities while remaining difficult to break down.

Stellies previously faced Polokwane City in the league, resulting in a 1-1 draw. Barker recalled the match where they took the lead but conceded a deflected goal from a set piece. With the quarterfinals at stake, Stellenbosch FC is determined to secure a victory in their home game.

Despite the absence of Jurgens and Nduli, Barker expressed optimism about the available players and their readiness for the match. He mentioned long-term injuries to Lehlogonolo Mojela and Athenkosi Mcaba but assured that the rest of the squad is ready for the challenge.

As they gear up for the Nedbank Cup clash, Stellenbosch FC is focused on advancing to the quarterfinals and potentially making another final appearance. Barker emphasized the significance of cup competitions in South African football and the opportunity they present for the team.
