The EU-funded E-nable project, implemented by Expertise France, has successfully concluded after three years of significant progress in advancing Libya’s economic diversification, promoting a business-friendly environment, empowering economic reforms, and accelerating digital transformation. The closing ceremony held in Tripoli marked the culmination of efforts to pave the way for sustainable economic growth in Libya.
H.E. Mr. Suhail Bushiha, Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade for Commercial Affairs, expressed his appreciation for the project’s role in improving the business environment and collaborating with the Ministry of Economy and Trade on economic reforms. He emphasized the importance of continued cooperation to achieve positive results.
EU Ambassador to Libya, H.E. Mr. Nicola Orlando, commended the dedication of Libyan partners in driving economic prosperity through the E-nable Project. He reiterated the EU’s commitment to supporting Libyan institutions in realizing their full potential for a competitive, inclusive, and sustainable economy.
Key achievements of the E-nable Project include enhancing public policies for economic diversification, enabling a business-friendly environment, and promoting digital transformation. The project collaborated with key partners to build institutional capacities, develop economic diversification strategies, improve the business environment, and promote public-private partnerships.
In terms of digital transformation, the project focused on promoting digitization and enhancing public sector digital capacity. Initiatives such as the Digital Innovation Lab and tax digitalization were established to drive innovation and improve digital capabilities within economic institutions.
Furthermore, the project worked on improving the financial sector by supporting the enhancement of financial services, credit reporting systems, and SME support. Efforts were made to strengthen the Central Bank of Libya’s capacity to assist SMEs and develop a regulatory framework for FinTech innovation.
Building on the success of the E-nable Project, the European Union and Expertise France are collaborating on the EU4Skills initiative. This program aims to boost employability and skills development by aligning education and training with market demands, emphasizing digital innovation, sustainability, and improving SME access to finance.
