SuperSport Secures Rights to Broadcast 2025 FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup

SuperSport has recently announced that they have acquired the broadcasting rights for the highly anticipated 2025 FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup. The tournament commenced in Croatia on Monday, 3 February 2025, promising viewers a thrilling display of fast-paced and skillful hockey matches.

The FIH Indoor World Cup is renowned for its electrifying atmosphere and non-stop action, making it a must-watch event for hockey enthusiasts across the continent. African representation in the tournament will be led by South Africa and Namibia, with both nations fielding their men’s and women’s teams to compete on the international stage.

To ensure that fans do not miss out on any of the exciting matches, SuperSport will be airing all the games live on SuperSport Variety 2 (DStv Channel 207) in South Africa, as well as on SuperSport Africa 2 and Action Africa in the rest of the continent. Viewers can also stream the matches live on DStv Stream and GOtv.

The tournament format for this year’s FIH Indoor World Cup mirrors that of the Rugby 7s at the Paris Olympics, with three groups consisting of four countries each. The top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarter-finals. Additionally, a top-six finish for an African team will secure an extra spot for the continent at the 2029 Indoor World Cup.

SuperSport CEO, Rendani Ramovha, expressed the network’s commitment to showcasing a diverse range of sports and providing viewers with top-tier entertainment. Ramovha emphasized the importance of promoting indoor hockey, a sport that often takes a back seat to field hockey during the Olympics.
