New CEO Appointed to Lead Ghana Venture Capital and Private Equity Association
The Ghana Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (GVCA) has announced the appointment of Amma Gyampo as its new Chief Executive Officer. This move signifies a significant milestone in the association’s efforts to drive the growth and impact of the private capital sector in Ghana. Gyampo takes over from Hannah Acquah, who played a key role in expanding GVCA’s membership, activities, and operational framework during her tenure.
With over two decades of experience in global management consulting, Gyampo brings a wealth of expertise in impact investing, innovative finance, and private sector development. She has worked with renowned organizations such as Vodafone, BlackBerry, and the Mastercard Foundation, championing initiatives that have benefitted thousands of women, youth, and startup ecosystem stakeholders across Africa and the Diaspora.
As the new CEO, Gyampo is dedicated to enhancing Ghana’s private capital industry by addressing investment barriers, fostering collaboration among key stakeholders, and advocating for policy reforms. Under her leadership, GVCA will focus on de-risking investments, promoting co-investment platforms, and advancing the professional development of its members to drive sustainable economic growth and create job opportunities.
Gyampo emphasized the importance of addressing regulatory challenges and capacity-building gaps to create an enabling environment for private capital to flourish. By promoting policies, innovative funding mechanisms, and strategic partnerships, GVCA aims to boost investor confidence and facilitate inclusive economic growth in Ghana.
Matthew Boadu Adjei, the Board Chair of GVCA, expressed optimism about the association’s future under Gyampo’s leadership. He highlighted Gyampo’s track record as an ecosystem builder and her ability to drive collaborative industry action. Adjei commended Hannah Acquah for her pioneering role as the first CEO of GVCA and acknowledged her contributions to the association.
