The bustling city of Asaba in Delta State is gearing up to host the highly anticipated 9th National Youth Games, set to take place from August 26 to September 6, 2025.

The Stephen Keshi Stadium, serving as the primary venue for the event, is abuzz with preparations under the watchful eye of Mr. Onoriode Oborevwori, the Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission and Local Organizing Committee (LOC).

Themed “We Are the Future,” this year’s edition promises twelve days of exhilarating competition, cultural showcases, and youth empowerment, as young athletes from all corners of Nigeria converge in Asaba.

Team Delta has consistently dominated the medals table since the inception of the National Youth Games in 2015, and the state is determined to uphold its winning streak on home turf.

Mr. Oborevwori has expressed confidence in the readiness of the facilities and organization for a successful hosting of the competition, acknowledging the unwavering support of Governor Sheriff F.O Oborevwori in promoting sports development and excellence in Delta State.

A staunch sports enthusiast and grassroots developer, Mr. Oborevwori’s track record of nurturing local talent has earned him accolades, making his leadership of the Sports Commission and LOC a natural fit.

The event schedule is as follows:
– Kickoff: August 26, 2025
– Opening Ceremony: August 29, 2025 (Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba)
– Closing Ceremony: September 6, 2025
– Departure: September 7, 2025

With the countdown officially underway, sports enthusiasts from across the nation are encouraged to converge on Asaba to witness the vibrant display of youth sportsmanship and celebrate unity amidst diversity at Nigeria’s premier grassroots sporting event.
