Four Men Charged with Federal Robbery and Firearms Charges
CHICAGO — Four men, including a familiar figure in CWBChicago’s reporting, have been charged with federal robbery and firearms offenses this week. The charges stem from the robbery of electrical workers who were targeted in the 9700 block of South Martin Luther King Drive. This incident was first reported by CWBChicago one year ago.
One of the individuals facing charges is Kahdaffie Green, who had previously served time in prison for his involvement in a $46,000 shoplifting incident at the Prada store in 2022. At the time of the utility worker robbery, Green was on parole for the earlier crime.
The four men—Green, Jahjuan Green, Birden, and Ramyyeh—allegedly wore masks, brandished firearms, and robbed three employees of Meade Electrical Company of a SeeSnake sewer camera reel and camera on December 6, 2023. The group made their getaway in a stolen Jeep.
According to federal prosecutors, the men conducted surveillance of the robbery location in advance, researched online to determine the resale value of the equipment, and used their phones to plan the crime.
However, the men overlooked one crucial detail—the expensive equipment was equipped with a GPS tracker. This allowed Chicago police to swiftly locate the group and recover the stolen items from the Jeep.
Each individual is now facing charges of robbery conspiracy and brandishing firearms during a violent crime, as stated by the U.S. District Attorney’s Office in Chicago. Additionally, Kahdaffie Green and Ramyyeh are charged with being felons in possession of firearms.
It is expected that state prosecutors will drop the charges against the men as federal authorities take over the case. However, Kahdaffie Green is also facing another case in state court for his involvement in a shoplifting incident at the Louis Vuitton store inside Nordstrom, while still on parole for the Prada store theft.
