The home-based Super Eagles have kicked off their training sessions in preparation for the upcoming African Nations Championship. The first training session took place at Ikenne, Ogun State, with twenty-one players in attendance. The session started at 7 p.m. under floodlights, officially marking the beginning of the camp.
According to Promise Efoghe, the Super Eagles’ media officer, 14 more invited players are expected to join the camp on Tuesday. The team is gearing up for the 2024 CHAN where they are placed in Group D alongside champions Senegal, Sudan, and Congo.
The 21 players currently in camp include Nduka Junior from Remo Stars, Harrison Austin from Ikorodu City, Lawal Mustapha from Shooting Stars, Abdulrafiu Taiwo from Rivers United, Temitope Vincent from Plateau United, and many more. The team is a mix of talent from various Nigerian clubs, all coming together to represent their country on the continental stage.
The training sessions are crucial for the players to build chemistry, work on tactics, and improve their fitness levels ahead of the tournament.
