Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics Set to Clash in 2025 Democracy Cup
Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics are gearing up to face off in the upcoming 2025 edition of the Democracy Cup, scheduled to take place on Friday, September 5, at the University of Ghana Stadium. The highly anticipated match has generated excitement among football fans and supporters of both teams.
In preparation for the event, organisers led by the Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, embarked on a series of courtesy calls to key figures in Ghana’s democracy. Among the notable visits was a trip to the Ga Mantse Palace to officially inform King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II about the game and seek his blessings.
During the visit, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II commended the organisers for their initiative and pledged to purchase 1,000 tickets to support the event. He emphasized the importance of not taking democracy for granted and highlighted the significance of bringing Ghanaians together through such events.
In addition to the Ga Mantse visit, the delegation also met with the National Commission for Civic Education and the Electoral Commission. At the Electoral Commission’s headquarters, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bossman Asare expressed the Commission’s support for the game and proposed for the EC to be included in next year’s curtain-raiser.
Mr. Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror highlighted the role of football in promoting democracy and uniting people from all walks of life. He emphasized the unifying power of football and how it fosters healthy competition while bringing communities together.
