It’s not necessarily unheard of for elected officials—even those running for President like sitting Vice President Kamala Harris—to take meetings and do interviews with influential figures. But in the case of an alleged meeting between the aforementioned Harris and popular Twitch streamer Kai Cenat—that’s definitely not a scenario that’s coming to fruition any time soon.
In fact, according to a source close to the situation who spoke to TMZ on Thursday, Harris’ campaign hasn’t even had any conversations about Cenat speaking with the VP and explained that an alleged interview was also never in discussions to begin with.
Now I know you may be wondering at this point: how did Kai Cenat meeting with the Vice President even become a thing?
Well, that’s due to two reasons. The first reason has to do with a myriad of folks on social media who were saying that it’d be advantageous for the Democratic presidential nominee to sit down with Cenat due to his strong pull in the Gen Z demographic.
The second reason is tied directly to Cenat who reportedly went on a rant days ago according to TMZ about how disinterested he was in speaking with Harris due to his desire to stay out of politics and his allegations that he received five calls from Secret Service in order to arrange some sort of meeting. Cenat’s team also alleged that they’ve been in touch with an “informal, third-party” with ties to the DNC to allegedly get something rolling between the two when it kicks off on Aug. 19—though specifics as to what exactly he’d be doing have yet to be ironed out.
Now however, it seems like this whole thing was a ploy for attention (and a cheap one).
