Do you remember the sneaky, striped-suited ghost, full of corny catchphrases? If the answer is yes, beware… because Beetlejuice is coming back! If the answer is no, you’ll have a chance to meet this gentleman of dubious reputation this fall.
Beetlejuice was a 1988 comedy horror from the mind of Tim Burton. It covers the story of a couple, Barbara (Geena Davis) and Adam (Alec Baldwin) who died after moving to their dream mansion. Trapped in their old house as ghosts, they decided to get rid of the new owners – the Deetz family. Barbara and Adam hired a freelance bio-exorcist called Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton), who would professionally torment the living.
Their plans, however, didn’t go well as malicious Betelgeuse evoked true chaos, trying to marry teenage Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder). Although the whole supernatural mess was cleaned up, it will return in Beetlejuice 2 (also known as Beetlejuice Beetlejuice).
Here’s the trailer for the movie:
After 36 years, Tim Burton will summon the evil spirit, played once again by Michael Keaton. Lydia, portrayed by Winona Ryder, will face the ghost, however, now she has her own daughter – teenage Astrid, played by Jenna Ortega.
Beetlejuice was a charming dark comedy with a gothic flair and Tim Burton’s trademark camp and grotesque. But will the sequel be just equally delicious? You’ll find out in theatres this fall.
