People cleaning a recently sold home just outside Grand Junction city limits found a human head and hands, the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday.
Deputies were called to the home in the 2900 block of Pinyon Avenue about 2:30 p.m. Friday for a “suspicious incident” and possible human remains, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
The Mesa County Coroner’s Office completed an autopsy and confirmed the remains were a head and hands.
“At this time, we have no other definitive answers until further testing can be completed,” the news release stated.
Deputies are working to identify the victim and are investigating the incident.
