The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, recently expressed confidence in the Ghana Police Service’s ability to ensure a successful 2024 General Election. Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the 53rd Police Cadet Officers’ Course in Accra, he emphasized the crucial role of the Police in the Election Security Taskforce.

While acknowledging the Police’s past achievements, Dr. Bawumia cautioned against complacency and urged the officers to maintain their high professional standards. He highlighted the importance of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) leading the Election Security efforts and emphasized the need for responsible action from all officers involved.

Dr. Bawumia commended the Police for their neutral, fair, and firm approach to election policing in recent months, noting that it instilled optimism in every Ghanaian. He urged the officers to continue their good conduct, citing their performance during the voter registration and exhibition exercises as a blueprint for the upcoming elections.

The Vice President’s endorsement of the Ghana Police Service’s capabilities in ensuring a secure electoral process is a testament to the professionalism and dedication of the officers. By setting high professional standards and maintaining impartiality, the Police are instrumental in creating a peaceful and incident-free environment for the General Election.

Overall, Dr. Bawumia’s remarks underscore the importance of the Police in safeguarding the democratic process and upholding law and order during elections. As the nation prepares for the 2024 General Election, the Vice President’s confidence in the Police serves as a reassurance of a successful and peaceful electoral outcome.
