The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a body was discovered inside Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park Saturday morning.
The unidentified man’s body was discovered prior to the opening of the park and was not related to any of the rides at the park, according to a news release from the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office.
The adventure park closed Saturday and will remain closed indefinitely as the investigation continues, the new release stated.
In the release, officials said the man entered the park after hours without authorization, making it important that the investigators not only identify the individual but also determine his cause of death.
The man’s cause and manner of death is pending a final report from the coroner’s office.
Investigators are inspecting the vehicle the man drove to the scene, and will attempt to retrace the steps the intruder followed while in the park to make sure none of the equipment, buildings, or rides have been tampered with.
In September 2021, the park closed for several days after a 6-year-old girl died on the park’s Haunted Mine Drop attraction.
