We’ve told you many times before that Malia Obama has become a new style icon. And once again, Malia decided to interrupt our day by getting a makeover. The 25-year-old former first daughter was spotted in Los Angeles with her signature waist-length brown locks trimmed to the middle of her back and dyed auburn. She debuted her new look with a pair of brown pinstripe pants, a gray tank top with spaghetti straps and a white cardigan. She completed her makeup-free look with a pair of black boots for a casual movie outing with a friend who also sports red hair.
“Very flattering cut and color,” said one internet commenter of the new ‘do. “She looks a lot more polished,” said another.
The Daily Mail was the first to get the photos as Malia was leaving the movie with a friend.
Here’s The Daily Mail:
The pair giggled with each other before embracing.
After their hug, Malia headed back to her car alone, where she was pictured laying her head on the steering wheel before taking off.
Just yesterday, Malia was photographed showing off her strawberry ‘do while leaving a talent agency.
While donning a pair of gray pants and an oversized brown jacket, the former first daughter was seen picking up her keys from valet.
She seems to be a huge of fan of her new locks as she let her red hair fall down her shoulders.
Malia accessorized with her classic large black bag, which was slung over her shoulder.
It’s the second time this month the elder Obama offspring has displayed her grown-up fashion sense. Three weeks ago, she nearly broke the internet when she was photographed taking a smoking break outside an L.A. convenience store in a cropped cardigan, high-waisted pleated menswear-style wool slacks and lug-soled black boots. Several social media users said she was giving Lisa Bonet from her A Different World era vibes, which she totally was.
“This picture of Malia Obama is quietly iconic,” Blake Thornton, a popular Black Tiktoker known for his snarky comments, said of the smoking break photo. “I know this picture is an inspiration to little brown girls around the world.”
While it might seem a little silly to track the Obama girls’ trends, we can’t help it. Malia and her younger sister Sasha grew up in front of our eyes, but during the White House years, their mom Michelle dressed them in simple and conservative jewel-colored outfits. Despite their parents’ very public lives while they were children, the sisters were largely shielded from publicity throughout their formative years. So it makes sense that we’re intrigued by every move the siblings make since leaving the nest and growing into their own fashion icon status.
