Iran has launched a fresh wave of ballistic missiles towards Israel, prompting sirens to blare across the Jewish state as residents are urged to seek shelter. The Israel Defense Forces have confirmed that their defensive systems are actively working to intercept the incoming threat following Tehran’s latest retaliatory strike on Sunday afternoon.

According to the IDF statement, the public has been advised to take cover in protected spaces and remain there until further notice. Reports indicate that at least four individuals sustained injuries after one of the missiles struck southern Israel, as per the Times of Israel.

In addition to the impact in the south, a missile also hit a building in the northern city of Haifa, resulting in a fire that engulfed an entire street. Magen David Adom, Israel’s emergency service, reported that two more individuals were injured by shrapnel from the explosion in Haifa.

Israel’s missile defense system and Air Force have been on high alert over the weekend, intercepting Tehran’s barrage of missiles which have claimed the lives of at least 13 people since the conflict escalated on Friday. The Israeli Air Force also shared footage of their successful interception of approximately 20 drones headed towards the country on Sunday morning.

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir has called on Iran to cease its retaliatory attacks against Israel or face severe consequences. Zamir emphasized the necessity of Operation Rising Lion, a preemptive strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities launched by Israel on Friday, to neutralize the existential threat posed by Iran.

The violence between the two nations shows no signs of abating, with both Israel and Iran committed to continuing their attacks until the other party relents. In Israel, the death toll has risen to 13, with 380 individuals injured. In Iran, human rights organizations report that at least 406 people have been killed by Israeli airstrikes, with another 654 sustained injuries.

As the conflict intensifies, the international community closely monitors the situation, hoping for a swift resolution to prevent further loss of life and escalation of hostilities.
