Tragic Gas Explosion Leaves One Dead and Two Fighting for Their Lives in Oyoko
Two individuals are currently fighting for their lives at the Eastern Regional Hospital following a devastating gas explosion in Oyoko, a suburb of New Juaben North Municipality in the Eastern Region. The incident has tragically claimed the life of Koforidua Technical University (KTU) first-year student, Asante Rose.
According to new reports, the explosion was believed to have been triggered when Rose attempted to locate a suspected gas leak in their kitchen. In a tragic turn of events, she struck a match to identify the source, unknowingly setting off a powerful blast that engulfed the room in flames.
Alongside Rose, her younger brother, and a neighbor who were also in the house at the time sustained severe burns and are currently receiving critical medical care at the Eastern Regional Hospital as they fight for their lives.
Meanwhile, KTU’s management has been informed of the heartbreaking incident, although they have yet to release an official statement. A candlelight vigil was initially planned to honor the memory of Rose Asante.
This tragic event has underscored the urgent need for increased public awareness on gas safety measures and the implementation of stricter regulations to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
